Months: April - Nov Special Focus: Tashi Labsta Pass, Gokyo Ri Area: Rowling and Everest
  • Overview

Tashi Lapsta and Gokyo Ri Trek  take in the Tashi Lapche Pass (5,755m.), one of Nepal’s highest most difficult fair weather trekking passes – remote and wild, it is guaranteed free from tourists, but its difficulty should not be underestimated. You have to be fit and willing to enjoy this foreboding landscape.

The Tashi Labsta pass is in the Rowaling Himal area inside the Gauri Sankar Conservation Zone; a remote  area inhabited by a few Sherpa villagess. The valley has only one viable very steep entrance track – the other two difficult access points are the tashi labsta pass and another difficult route to Junbesi on the old original Everest trail.

After crossing the Tashi Labsta, we ascend the Renjo pass (5,388m) inside Sagamatha National Park to Gokyo village, perched beside a high Himalayan lake. An ascent of Gokyo Ri (5357m/19,216ft) gives unparrelled views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyo – 4 peaks over 8000m.
